Greetings Florida FTC Teams, Coaches, Volunteers, and Sponsors:

Happy Thanksgiving and we have two more months of Florida FTC league events. Please make sure that you register and attend the league meets and the league championship.  You must attend a league championship to obtain a bid to the Florida Championship. The following are the topics covered this Florida FTC newsletter and provide information about our Florida FTC season:

1.                  Florida Championship Lottery

2.                  Number of Teams Attending Florida Championship from Each League

3.                  State Championship Volunteers Needed

4.                  Dean’s List Nominations (Repeat)

5.                  League Rankings Published on Florida FTC Website (Repeat)

Newsletter Details:

1.      Florida Championship Lottery – Given the significant growth in the number of FTC teams in Florida, we have decided to increase the number of teams that will be attending the Florida Championship to 60 teams.  58 of the teams will come from teams progressing from the league championship (see next item for number of teams that will be attending from each league).  This means that we will have a lottery for two (2) additional teams.  This is an outstanding opportunity for teams that have not recently attended the Florida Championship to receive a lottery invitation.  To qualify for the lottery, the team head coach must send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the following in the Subject line of the email: “Florida Championship Lottery: Team # xxxxx”.  Please replace xxxxx with your FTC team number.  This email must be received no later than January 15, 2020. As a reminder, teams that receive an invitation to the Florida Championship are required to pay a $200 event registration fee and teams must be able to arrive in Jacksonville by 3pm Friday, February 28, 2020 to complete your robot inspection process and your judge interview.

2.      Number of Teams Attending Florida Championship from Each League – In a previous newsletter announced that the FTC Florida Championship will be held at the Prime Osborne Conversion Center in Jacksonville, FL on February 28-29, 2020.  This event has been added to the FIRST Volunteer Information Management System (VIMS) and I would like to encourage volunteers to register for the event.  We also announced that 60 Florida FTC teams will receive an invitation to the state championship and now we are announcing how many teams from each league will be attending:

  • Space Coast League – 8 Teams
  • South Florida League – 11 Teams
  • North East Florida League – 10 Teams
  • ROBOT League – 7 Teams
  • Tesla League – 7 Teams
  • Gulf Coast League – 7 Teams
  • OneClay League – 3 Teams
  • AeroCoast League – 5 Teams

3.      State Championship Volunteers Needed – As we continue to increase the number of teams that attend the Florida Championship, it also means we need more volunteers. This season we will again have two divisions and four fields to manage. Therefore, we are in need of volunteers to help FTA, CSA, inspection, referee, querers, field reset, and judges.  If you are interested in helping at the Florida FTC Championship on February 28-29, 2020 in Jacksonville, FL please register as a volunteer as soon as possible. The event is currently available in the FIRST Volunteer System.
