Newsletter Details:

1.    Florida FTC Kick-off Events – I encourage all Florida teams to attend this seasons kick-off event because we will be telling you about a number of changes that are being made to the Florida league structure.  To help ensure, all teams can attend a kick-off event in your region, we will be hosting the following four kick-off events (more information about the agenda topics and start times will be made available in a future Florida FTC email blast):

  • North Florida Kick-off – Jacksonville University, 2800 University Boulevard North, Jacksonville, FL 32211
  • Western-Central Florida Kick-off -- Middleton High School, 4801 N 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33610

2.    Game Manual Part 1 Available – A great first step activity for your teams to do prior to the season kick-off is to start reviewing part 1 of the game manualYou can download Game Manual Part 1 at the following FIRST webpage: Part 1 of the game manual has rules about what type of electronics and hardware that can be used to build your robot, the robot inspection process, and tournament rules. I encourage all FTC coaches, mentors, and team members to review a number of changes that have been made to part 1 of the game manual.

3.    Florida Rockwell Collins Grants -- Rockwell Collins will again provide grants to Florida FTC teams this season. Another incentive for teams to complete the team registration process as soon as possible, is the grant application process and form will only be available to the teams in early September that have completed the FIRST registration process. Completing the FIRST registration process included having two coaches/mentors that have completed the background check process and the $275 registration fee has been paid.

4.    Team Registration is OpenThe FTC team registration process can be done directly from the FIRST website (  If you are a returning team and already have a team account with FIRST you can select the “Login” button in the upper right-hand corner of the webpage. If you are creating a new team, you must create your FIRST account be selecting the “Sign Up” button that is just to the left of the “Login” button.  The best way to get access to help and funding for your team is to register your team so that you are added to the FIRST and Florida FTC email distribution lists.
